He should have sold you matching dvd rom with the new motherboard. The motherboard and DVD ROM have a "unique" shared key, and if the dvd drive's key doesn't match the motherboard key, you get "play dvd". If I were you, I'd contact the guy you bought the motherboard from and pickup the matching dvd rom if he has it.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."
you can check the "dashboard" version in the system info... only consoles (or motherboards) with the (kernal) version of 2.0.7371.0 or LOWER is jtagable (some 7371's are not even jtag-able).
Both the DVD drive, and the motherboard have a key assigned to them. They both have to match in order for the system to play games. If you jtag the system, you can extract the key from the board, and put it into a DVD drive. If the system is NOT jtag-able, you've now got your self a spare parts board. Your best option would be to try and fix your old board because at least you have a matching board & DVD drive.
ya i don't think i can jtag it.. D:2.0.9199.0 - K:2.0.9199.0 (BK:2.0.1888.0) (E:0) x:9302-6694-e7fb... he must of done somthing to it it is xbox live blocked.. he probably just flashed the dvd drives fw to play piratid games.
