So I just got done watching the E3 demo for the 360 and I have to say that I was pretty impressed by Kinect and the new 360. I definitely plan on getting the new 360, especially since its only $299 and will be in stores this week. It also comes with a 250gb hdd and built in wireless-n. It's even smaller than the original. To give you an idea in the demo they had it inside of the shell of the 360 we all have now. The Kinect looks cool but it will probably be pretty pricey so that's gonna have to wait. Anyone else plan on getting this or the new 360 this week? Kinect isn't out till Sept. 4, I think that's what they said.
Here's a picture of the new console:

I'm really curious if they stuck with the Liteon 9x series or got a new one in there. I hope a site, any site, breaks one down and posts some high quality photos.

I think that they have stuck with it but I think they may be able to detect if you moddify the drive quicker and not just when you are on live but keep a record of the discs or maybe just gone for a read only chip for the firmware on the drive.

Whenever I get one, I'm 99% sure I'll not mess with it. With the Arcades now being $150, why mess with the $300 one?

That's a good point. I plan on doing the same thing. Buying one and not touching. I got two spare 360s. I'll probably just sell one and keep the other one for modded games.

If I get my hands on it, I will hack it to pieces to see how it works!
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

I think I will have to open it up to have a look inside, just too tempting not to do it, see whats inside have a look at the new motherboard wonder if its going to overheat or if the xclamp problem has been fixed. What drive it has and if it is hackable, doubt jtag is going to be an option ever, their propritory hard drive is a pain but 250gb is big enough I guess. Was it engadget that went with stealthbox think it should have a name of its own seen as its not elite or arcade or core or premium.

Still suprised they went to all the trouble of redesigning but really nothing that makes me want to upgrade...I guess 802.11n is nice but not worth $299 to me for sure!
Just my $0.02,
