Heres an interesting question for you today.
I have a 360 here which has been flashed (samsung ms28) and now the console has pretty much stopped working.
I have another xbox here which is working fine and has a hatachi drive in it. Problem with this one, is when i put any disk in, it boots up saying to insert this 360 game into a 360. So im taking it, that the drive has had it. So..
Can i spoof my samsung ms28 with jungle flasher to be a hatachi drive and just replace the them or is it worth flashing the hatachi drive first to see ( on the off chance) if that might work.
Oh and if anyone has any tutorials on spoofing the samsung, that would be great.
Sorry the question is confusing to most but any with good knowledge will know what im trying to do lol.
Thanks in advance
When you say, "it boots up saying to insert this 360 game into a 360", is this both back ups and originals? If so, it sounds like you are missing the correct drive key
In regards to your spoofing question, you can spoof any drive to look like another drive, just follow the Jungleflasher PDF tutorial.
Something else to consider if using a DVD cleaning cd has failed you, try opening up the problem drive and using a Q-tip to lightly swap the lens with a bit alcohol. Use the dry end to dry the lens as well.
Another tip is to see if the motor is spinning the disk. Use your finger to see if the motor has trouble turning (if you flick it, it should spin fluidly and come to an easy stop, if it doesn't, you can pop up the spinner magnet and clean the prong that holds it in place...you will see small magnets in a circular formation that are activated with electrical current to spin up the drive. If you clean that prong and the inside of the spinner magnet with a tooth pick, maybe even some lithium grease if you have to regrease, you can breath life back into the spinner if it has ceased up.)
P.S. If those things don't work, use a multimeter and do a pot calibration. There are plenty of tutorials that you can find through google.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Wouldn't bother with the POT calibration as the normal error is Open Tray error for that type of issue.
