The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), and The TOR Project have developed an add-on for Mozilla's Firefox web browser designed to simplify the use of HTTPS for web users. I don't really see what the point of this plug-in is though. Sure, the connection between me and the webserver is encrypted, but couldn't my ISP still see what I was doing?

Can someone clarify the point of HTTPS? I know data won't be (proxy) cached, but besides that. Is it harder for ad/spyware to trace the data?

Of note, the chat function in Facebook doesn't seem to work when using this extension.
