If you are trying to get 1.3gig onto a blank dvd media, it should be no problem with size. Blank dvd media has about 4.4gig of space. Must be something you are doing wrong or settings in your program. If you are ripping a dvd, why are you converting it to AVI format? Your info isn't telling us enough.

Also, what program are you using to burn? Try to give us a little more info so we can help.

i have 2 scenarios....
scenario 1. ripping dvd with smart ripper, then turning it into an AVI with DVD2AVI (subject to change the last step) and then using AVI mux to give it sound...the only problem is that it says it wont fit onto the disc.....
scenario 2. i hvae an AVI of a movie that is about 400-500 meg i think and it also does not fit so maybe if i change it to a diferent format it might be better but im not sure.... or perhaps my program i use "mydvd by sonic" is just playing up.....
i hope that extra info helps

If you are trying to fit the AVI onto a CD-R which stores considerably less that a gig, then you have a problem but you have plenty of room to fit your file onto a DVD-/+R. If you are trying to make a DVD to DVD back up then you shouldn't be converting the file into AVI first. Download a copy of DVD Shrink (which is freeware and available here on Afterdawns web site), it will rip and compress your DVD into compatible mpeg2 without a need to convert to AVI. It will also be much faster. If you have a copy of Nero to burn with even better, if not, you can buy a copy of 6X express verion on the internet for $10. which will work just fine. Follow this link for a guide on using DVD Shrink.

I agree with the Nero/DVD Shrink process Sophocles mentioned. Also, if you do not have Nero, you can get DVD Decrypter (which is also free) and it will work just fine in place of Nero. I personally use Nero because I already have it, but have also had great results with DVD Decrypter.

Hello, I've been using DVD Decrypter to burn my dvd movies, but when the movie is to large for the blank dvd I try to burn it with DVD Shrink and it won't let me take out enough from the dvd movie so I can burn it. I also have Nero but I don't use it to burn. My question is how do I burn a dvd 9 movie onto a blank dvd to fit? Its very frustrating
