I'm not at all active here but look in from time to time because this is where I first started years ago. Now that SV6 payserver is busted, inevitably, as I and other warned I decided to give people some quick tips on their options. There are four. Btw I hope you guys are lucky ad UPC decide not to pursue people, though my feeling is they will.
1. Pay like honest people: >:-P
2. Join another payserver (sat or cable): get screwed like you just have, finance gangsters and slavers.
3. Setup a private satellite card-sharing network: my choice.
4. Setup a private cable card-sharing network: I still have a load of old DM500Cs from the old days so this is my backup if S*Y pull anything sneaky.
4. Since some of you may have useless linux boxes (DM500C) lying around and cable subs I'll talk about cable (DVB-C). The starview 6 network that was just shut down was nothing complicated. All you need for a basic setup is the following.
- UPC HD receiver (HD Cisco 8485DVB) + valid sub ~?1,000py???
- DM500C Linux receiver or like. Internet connected. With SBOX & CCCAM installed. Installing this stuff and setting it up is easy. It just take some reading. ~?80
- You need the BOXKEY and RSA from inside your legit HD box. You must send box away to Poland to a guy I know and he extracts + resends box and info. ~?70
- Last but not least, FRIENDS & FAMILY. To split the cost of the sub and network. Ten should do. REMEMBER if you try to make money off this and make it available to people you cant trust you will get fucked. Just like the SV6 guys in Dublin. The strength of this is its anonymity. UPC dont know if private networks exist or how big they are.
It works very simply. Your main DM500C acts as a server that gives out code-words over the internet to clients (your fiends boxes) as the watch TV change channel etc.. Now because I dont actually run a cable setup I cant tell you how many clients one DM500C box and one sub card can handle. My guess is 10 is easily doable. I heard maybe many more. Obviously your friends need to buy a box or more each. You will have to configure the server to allow the to access it with each box. Everyone needs internet BTW.
3. Satellite sharing works the same way really. You dont need to send the box away as BOXKEY is obtainable. You just use the DVB-S boxes instead and the software installed on the boxes is different (just cccam this time). I know some of you will be put off by the idea of having to spend any money whatsoever but this is really your only option for cheap reliable full sub TV for the short to medium term.
As for which system is better ATM both have strengths and weaknesses. Satellite providers are more active generally on counter measures but the amount of support and people actively breaking the systems is much higher (lots of good communites). Satellite has FAR more to offer channel wise. By sharing with users in other countries I have access to almost every major subscrition package on the continent! Thousands of channels. Hundres of movies+sports all free. Cable as I said is generally less well supported but probably on average more time between counter measures.

NTHell nipped the eurovox/starview/etc... in the bud because so many we're doing it and information was so openly and easily available in forums like this. Maybe, going forward, this should be restricted to PMs?

No. it's common knowledge. I do suggest you take yourselves on over to a card-sharing group forum though if any of this interests you.
I was discussing this with e45 via PM last night. If you can get sat card sharing privately, you are sorted forever pretty much and, with a close knit group, and as long as it's set up correctly, it is IMPOSSIBLE for providers to find.

The hardest part is finding the required number of TRUSTWORTHY people to be a part of the group in the long haul. Ideally no more than 15 local (as in Ireland local). Obviously, the more the merrier but you need to balance price against bandwidth (for reliability purposes - Sly send their encryption updates every 10 seconds). So, no more than 15 is best.
Would not go with U*C broadband for a server connection though. Even doing it for satellite, they would look at it as lost revenue (even though their TV service is poo). There is a bit of a setup cost but is well worth it in the end. Lets look at a "10 player" sat setup. I am assuming everyone has BB already:
One time costs:
* Card decoding. This can be done yourself for free. Google is your friend.
* Basic server laptop in the attic - EUR200 (at the absolute most - You could probably do it for much less)
* All would need a receiver with a LAN port. Dreambox 600 PVR for EUR150 would be fine but for HD, looking like it'd be nearer EUR300 for say, the DM500HD.
* Satellite dish (as low as EUR30 each except for the genuine subscriber). All in the group would need a dish. If you cant (appartment) or just dont want to mount one, even a portable satellite dish would suffice such as this:
* Homeplug to connect 2nd BB router (assuming router's located downstairs) up to the attic (assuming server is in the attic). Strongly recommend you do not use wireless for this connection.
So, once all that's done, Sly @ EUR75 per month for the full HD package (not including PPV unless you really actually want it) and a 2nd BB (eg: Eircom) @ EUR25 per month = EUR100 between 10 so EUR10 per month for each player. Even giving the server a fiver to cover the extra electricity costs means you are still miles better off than with any of the provider prices.
I'm sure the providers will absolutely hate this post but it's the only way they'll realize that WE ARE NOT PREPARED & HAPPY TO BE RIPPED OFF ANYMORE. To be honest, I would pay absolutely no more than EUR30 a month to sly for a full HD package (sports & all).
