Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to backup xbox 360 games like you can DVDs? If so, how do I do it or where should I look? I have searched but I really don't know where exactly to look or start. I am trying to save my son from always having to buy replacement games because they cost so much, so if I can back them up if he ruins one it won't be any big deal to replace it. If it can be done, how easy or hard is it?

in theory backing up an xbox 360 game the same way you back up a dvd should work.In reality you will probably need to flash/mod the xbox 360 to read the disk and then you might need to rip and rebuild the game.Then most the games will have copy protection that needs to be removed.chances are it can be done im just not sure how'd you do it.

Ok, thanks for the help. So the system/console would need to be modded first, right? My son is worried if he does that then he will be black boxed/banned and have to buy a new console. Does Microsoft really ban people for modding?

In order to back up games, you'll need to connect the Xbox 360's DVD Drive to your Computer each and every time you want to back up a game. Another alternative would be just downloading the games from the internets.
Yes Microsoft do ban for modded consoles, so far there are not yet any bans under the LT (Lite Touch firmware) but that may change come November time (when Microsoft have previously started the ban waves)
