So I was trying to use JungleFlash to flash my BenQ drive. The trouble was it kept freezing at different times either writing or reading the banks and also during the verification. Anyway last time it froze I had to restart the computer. Now the BenQ drive is no longer recognized by the computer and the tray on the drive won't open or close. If I hook the 360 back up with its own SATA cable it gives me a e65 error which I understand is something to do with the drive. So my question is two.

1.How do I get the drive working again?

2.Once the drive is working again why is JungleFlash freezing how do I get it to stop?

As far as getting the drive working again, have you tried Iprep/Dosflash/360 Mod Disc? You can try those and look up a quick tutorial on them and they may help you get it out of vendor mode and delete the bad flash. I assume the green light in the center is blinking but it won't do anything else?

JungleFlash freezing, I assume you are using a PCI-Sata VIA6421 card? If you are, try deleting/renaming viamraid.sys as in this forum post:

http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/foru...php?f=63&t=4351

If you are using a PCI-Sata card, make sure you are using the correct port.

No I was using an nforce motherboard that I have. Is this Iprep/Dosflash going to work since my computer won't even recognize that anything is plugged into the SATA slot?

Did you delete the via drivers from your PC ? If you didn't thats why it freezing just delete them connect the drive to you PC and hit intro power cycle the drive like it tells you on the screen and it will show up in JF now just hit read

I'm using my motherboard which has the nforce chip set there is no via in system 32. Is it the same for Nforce? Also since its my motherboard doesn't deleting the VIA drivers stop the harddrive from functioning properly?

And I still don't know how to get the drive to be recognized by my mother board. When I boot up I get a specific message that says there is nothing connected to SATA 0 which is what the BenQ is pluged into. How do I fix that?

Let me ask the questions again maybe I'm not being clear enough. The priority here is to get the benq to be recognized by the mother board.

1. How do I get the drive to be recognized by my motherboard as stated I am using an Nforce motherboard which was working fine until jungleflash froze and now the benq isn't regognized when I boot up. I even get a message saying nothing attached to SATA 0 even though the benq drive is attached to SATA 0.

2. Do I need to removed any VIA drivers when using an NFORCE motherboard? I heard that it only applied when using the VIA PCI card is that correct? Plus I can't find the drivers I looked.

*Reads through comments again* I don't see where my questions was answered.

The drivers are not there and I still haven't gotten a clear answer to if they should even exist using the nforce motherboard. Not I repeat not the VIA PCI Card.

So you are saying it doesn't matter that according my motherboard doesn't find anything attached to SATA 0 when the drive is attached? And it doesn't matter that jungle flash doesn't find the drive either?

So I'm dealing with 3 things:

*On Boot I get a message that says "Nothing Connected to SATA 0" (the Benq is physically connected to SATA 0)

*Jungle Flash does not see a benq on any of the I/Os

*I do not see a VIA Driver

I'm not trying to be a pain I'm just trying to understand and I appreciate everyone's efforts.

(1) My recommendation is to use DosFlash/Iprep/Xbox 360 Mod Disc. As long as you have your original firmware (usually saved by JungleFlasher as BENQ-OFW or something like that, I'm at work so I can't check my own computer) you stand a chance of deleting the bad flash, getting it out of mode B and re-flashing the drive.

If you can't boot from a floppy or USB (as was my case), 360 Mod Disc helped me in deleting a bad flash once. However, once I deleted the bad flash and re-flashed it unknowingly with old firmware - I was not able to re-re-flash. I bricked the drive while deleting the old firmware in JungleFlasher and could never remove it from mode b.

Anyway, here's a guide to repairing a BenQ with 360 Mod Disc:

Part 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i_8sKTKXbY

Part 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUOEue8xk4k

Part 3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOWIsOtcKYk

(2) If you can't find viamraid.sys, then you can't delete it so I would assume you don't have to. If you can't use JungleFlasher because of it freezing up and you don't have the via drivers, then I would recommend using one of the other programs I mentioned. DosFlash/Iprep or 360 Mod Disc. It is going to take you hopefully deleting the bad flash first however.

I am a newbie, so I can't say the proper precautions for flashing using NForce. I have my limited experience of using a PCI-Sata card, so forgive my ignorance on that end. I can tell you though that I had a bad-flash on my Benq that caused JF to not recognize that my drive was connected and in my first attempts at a repair, using 360 Mod Disc, I was able to correct it.

Thanks for the help. I tried what you said here's what happened. I went ahead and got a PCI-Sata card and tried to flash the drive using the mod disc following the instructions from the video. I got to the second video when it gives you the hardware instructions and you are supposed to unplug the disc drive power and plug it back in then it should be able to read the drive. Well in this case that didn't happened I cannot get any other status other than 0x7F which if what I've learned else where is correct basically means the drive is none responsive. Anyone have any suggestions to what I should do now? The drive isn't being found by jungle flash and it now looks like the mod disc is a no go too unless I'm doing something wrong. Why isn't the drive being recognized why can't I flash it! Thanks for all who are trying to help.

Use Jungle Flasher dude. If you have the drivers setup properly there is never a need to use another program to flash your drive. I've done 100's of drives with JF with no problems. Problem exist between desk and chair.

O_o Thats just rude. You obviously didn't read the thread otherwise you'd know why I am not using Jungle Flasher. In other words the problem with your reply is between your desk and your chair.

To everyone else I still am having the same issues as stated above. Using the Nforce motherboard Jungleflash crashed and I had to hard restart the computer this happened while writing to the benq drive. As stated there were no via drivers to delete at the time they did not exist on my system so that's not why jungleflash froze. Because of this the drive doesn't seem to respond. I am now using a PCI Sata card and the drive doesn't seem to be recognized by jungle flash or Xbox 360 Mod Disc 1.6. What should I do now?

What sata card are you using? Does it have a via chipset? BenQ's are by far the easiest drive to flash. What is powering the benQ? You should buy a xtractor if you haven't already. I assume you're using hte 360 to power the drive when attempting to flash?

Hmmm, doesn't sound good man. On my previous drive I had a similar issue where I could only get the status 0x80 out of it and nothing I tried ever worked. My solution? I bought another BenQ off ebay for $20 and flashed it using my original firmware/dvdkey as a base.

So, I'm not sure if there is a solution to the issue or not man. I never received 0x7F so perhaps there is hope. However I spent two weeks trying to recover my drive and I wish I would have just ordered the new one in the first place.
