I hope I am not the only who has had this happen, Seeing that Sony wanted to screw us out of the OtherOS (Zerogame) I have not updated from 3.15, so today I go out and buy the Transformers: War for Cybertron, get home ready to transform and just like megatron I was defeated, " You must update to 3.30 before next use" 2 questions, is this game worth updating, or is there any way to bypass this.......oh sony?
Check the packaging...I don't think it says that it needs 3.30 anywhere on it; so you should be able to return the game...as sony claims that 3.30 is not a required update. Make sure to tell them why you are returning it, and why you won't be buying any more games for the system...
Or, do the update and join one of the many lawsuits.
Thanks KillerBug, I want to update but I use linux "sometimes" plus it kind of the princpal as well. Plus is anyone really winning the suits, of is sony just buying time untill they get tired of waiting for a settlement?
None of the suits have really gotten going yet. Sony has been served numerous times, but they have a couple months to issue a response to most of them. The plaintiff lawyers are mostly asking for jury trials; this makes paying people off/trading favors/etc a lot more difficult. By October, most of the cases will either start preparing for trial, or making settlements.
If you care about the principal of them removing linux, then you should also care about the principal of them removing online features and the ability for your game console to play games. Refusing to buy any new games is a start, but Sony will never even notice that drop in sales. Heck, they could alienate 10% of their customers, so they never buy games from sony again...and sony would just blame the 10% drop on the economy.
