Sony Worldwide Studios VP Scott Rohde has denied recent rumors that the company is creating a 3D-enabled PSP handheld, one that will compete directly with the upcoming Nintendo 3DS.
Rohde was specifically asked during an interview whether Sony was developing a handheld with 3D capabilities, and the answer was pretty straightforward.

Earlier in the week, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kazuo Hirai called 3D technology too imprecise.
And movement without a stick is also too imprecise...but sony does not seem to mind making PSPs!
Sony does not seem to want to compete...no PSP2 (even though people have built them in their garages!), no PSPhone (even though it would be one of the easiest things they ever did). I don't really care anymore; ever since FW 3.21, I have no desire to give them money.
Both the DS and PSP are half assed IMO, PSP is lacking a nub the DS is lacking acouple buttons and the 3DS just is just lacking on top of that they waste time and money on 3D crap..........

Thus says the CEO who puts 3D in his PS3... He didn't specify he was speaking hand-held only. The fact that they need glasses on to enjoy is annoying enough. I doubt its imprecise to the point it takes away from game play, but just saying, doesn't anyone find that Sony is taking for to risk a gamble if the CEO can say something casual like that?
