Hello,
I have a store bought copy of Super Mario Bros Wii, and it forced a mandatory update on me when I went to play it. Does this update mean that I can't install Homebrew channel now? If I do install it, can I still play Mario?

You can still install homebrew and play mario. Just follow any of the 4.2 softmod guides and you'll be fine.

Actually that's incorrect, the game disc ships with only a 4.1 update, unless you perform an official system update, which would leave you on 4.3. You'll need a softmod guide for 4.1, although check your firmware version for sure by going into the wii settings menu & it will say in the top-right corner of the screen.

Really? My mistake then. I never let my copy of NSMB update, just ran it straight into the USB loader. I had assumed it contained 4.2. Sorry about that.
