hello afterdawners. My gf just recently bought me a xbox elite with the 120 gb hard drive.I've been able to mod my psp,ps2, and wii thanks to this site. But modding a xbox 360, i know it goes further on modding like opening the xbox itself.so i just wanted to know if yall can point me the right direction into modding it.i found a link but it looks really outdated so I'm not sure if this one will work.
@ dagdaniel
thanks bro!okay i checked the drive i have and bad news is i have the drive with the yellow wire, but does this mean that the only way to mod it,is trough soldering?

OMG. Lite-on's all require soldering. Why is that bad news?

You have a liteon drive. There are a few different kinds:
-74850c: Requires extra hardware or soldering method. I recommend buying the CK3 xtractor probe with the CK3 or CK3 lite - just google it. If you're like me (cheap) and have a soldering iron (not much soldering skill required) you can make your own using this excellent guide link by bhetrick - this is what I did.
-83850C v1: Does not require extra hardware, just follow the jungle flasher tutorial that can be found on their website: link
-83850C v2: Requires a probe like 74850c, I can't remember but I think it might be a different kind of probe- the only way to tell the difference between v1 and v2 is to attempt to hack it like a v1, JF will tell you if it will work or not.
-93450C same as v2.
Your going to have to start by opening the 360 and checking out the label on the drive. If the 360 is new you'll want to preserve the warranty stickers on the front of the 360, the DVD drive and the sticker that attaches the drive to the case (search youtube for a guide) because the 360 has a 3 year warranty for the RRoD.
My best advice is to carefully read the JF guide and make sure you get the correct keys from the drive, if not and you erase the FW - you are screwed and the 360 is rendered useless... To avoid this, buy a Benq drive and spoof it as your current drive (JF tut covers this), the drive can be had for about $25 on ebay and worth it in case you screw something up...
Contrary to what some on here are telling you, you don't need to solder, you just need extra hardware to probe the eyelet and extract the keys - if you don't have soldering experience then just buy the correct probe and connectivity kit, if you have a little soldering experience then build your own probe. Regardless, I wouldn't go soldering the PCB on the drive itself - one mistake and your $300 Xbox becomes an expensive paperweight.
