I got one of those 250gb HDD off Ebay a while a go and works great on my Xbox360 Arcade.
I now have my hands on a 360 Core system and used the same HDD. It see's it but does not show any capacity of memory.
I decided to format the drive and entered the system serial as asked. It goes and formats no problem but still shows nothing.
I then went & put the HDD back in arcade system and it shows a fully formatted drive with 228gb spare. When back in the Core system its shows nothing on the HDD.
Out of curiosity I reset the factory settings on this Core system. Probably not a wise move because now I cannot even get to the main menu because I have no memory to create a profile. Ha ha. Live and learn I guess.
Any enlightenment & help on this topic would be great, thanks!!
check the plug on top of the xbox,,make sure there is no dirt in there,,and dumb question,,is it plug in all the way??if its not snug,,it will not start,,
I blew what ever dirt there was. Plus I took the side cover off to make sure the HDD was as snug as it could get. Still the same. connections & plugs all seem to be intact.
Might have to get a memory card to get this Core system back to the menu screen.
Thanks for the advice Coorva.
After pulling the Xbox apart last night, it looks like the HDD socket on the motherboard is poorly placed. It does not sit up high enough and has too much of an angle for the HDD to lock in properly. The positioning looks completely different to my other xbox.
No sign of damage. Just poor workmanship. Sigh
