I am thinking of buying a new PSP, wife took over the unhackable one I have, and I was thinking of buying a new PSP for myself.
Things I am considering and the first one is why I posted here.
1. I want to be able to put Custom Firmware preferably without a pandora battery.
2. I don't want a 1000 series PSP due to the slower UMD access on it.
Anyone suggest a version, I heard the 3000 is now hackable, and now holds the CFW after power is lost to the unit (i.e. you turn it fully off, or remove the battery), can anyone confirm this, and if so should that be the one I get, and how can I know for sure that is the version I am getting by looking at the box, I am going to buy this one new instead of used like the current one I have.
Personally if you don't want a 1000, I think you'd be better off with one of the early 2000's. They're almost fully hackable as far as I know, as opposed to later 2000's and 3000's, which can only be hacked on certain firmwares.

Is there a way to tell if the version I am going to get is hackable? I know that the serial starting with "A02" is unhackable if at OFW 5.50+.
As far as the 3000, I read somewhere that they all are hackable as long as you are below OFW 5.50. Can someone please confirm this?
I was curious also as to where is the best place to get one, a buddy of mine bought the Jakk bundle grey PSP, and it was OFW 5.60 right out of the box, making it unhackable. I remember when I used to own a Jakk bundle it came with 4.71 pre-installed on mine.
