Hello everyone, you may remember about a month ago I purchased an Xbox 360 and made the following thread:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/..._please-855022/

I successfully flashed that Xbox 360 using only a SATA cable and a VIA6421A Card as it was a Lite-on 835850c (i.e I didn't need to use the CK3 probe or a connectivity kit). Can somebody who knows what they are talking about advise me as to whether or not I can do the same with this new Xbox 360 I just bought for my room please. I have opened up the case and the DVD-Drive gives me the following information:

Make & Model Number: Lite-on DG-16D2S
Firmware Version: 74850C
Manufacture Date: May 2008
HW Version: A0A1

I would like to (if possible) be able to gain the drive-key through the SATA as I don't have any other kit and would rather not buy it unless it's absolutely necessary, I also don't want to have to cut traces (I didn't cut traces on my last drive and that work out fine for me). Thanks in advance for any help in regards to this.

You will need a probe of some kind to extract the key, no other way for that drive, you can use the xbox for power if you wish but i would recommend getting the ck3 lite or pro!! Got both of mine for £27 as a bundle, hope this helps:)

yes,if you use the 360 for power, it will get a flag for not having the drive connected, unless your not live thats okay.
i would recommend the ck3 pro or a blaster.blaste has a probe built in

Thanks for the replies. I used the Xbox 360 for powering the drive on the 83850C and that wasn't a problem (i.e. I didn't get banned) so I won't need to buy anything to power this Xbox either. Considering I don't need anything to power the drive, which probe would I best off buying?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I also never had a problem with having the drive unplugged, I've fixed so many RRODs and I've forgotten the SATA cable or had a loose power cable on the DVD drive way too many times.

Also if you power on the drive without the AV cable, it'll freeze before it tries to load the dashboard.

I've been rather busy so haven't got around to buying the probe, but I'd like to buy it now. Can you guys recommend a place to buy the probe v2? is it safe to buy off of any of websites shown here?

http://team-xecuter.com/where-to-buy/

Can anybody personally vouch for the reliability of a website purchase and when they purchased that item so I know the owner of the site hasn't disappeared. Thanks!

Hi guys, I've now bought the CK3 Probe II (without any connectivity kits) but I am confused as to how to set it up, am I supposed to connect it directly to the PC considering I have no connectivity kit (I am using the Xbox 360 power to cycle the drive). I've taken a photograph of exactly what I've purchased below, am I supposed to use the wire given to connect the probe directly to the PC? I'd appreciate a quick response as I have it all open in front of me right now.
Many thanks!

*BUMP*

Can anybody please help me? is a connectivity kit absolutely necessary with the probe? or am I able to do it without one? I don't understand how you're supposed to power the probe without a connectivity kit but I'm sure I've seen people mention the probe is all that is necessary. Thanks again for any replies in advance.

Thanks, I did a search and bought the required Connectivity Kit (CK3 Pro), but now I'm having a huge amount of issues with the USB Driver for it. Every time I install it (I have tried a number of times) I get told that the driver install has been successful, however when I plug in my CK3 I get a message saying the install has been unsuccessful.

I then went into device manager and I can see there has been no driver assigned to my CK3 as shown here:

Then when I try to manually install the driver by manually finding the .exe installer on my PC I get told that windows couldn't find the right file to use as a driver for the programme as shown here:

Can somebody please tell me what I should do as I have spent hours trying to fix this issue with no avail. I cannot use the serial port as my PC doesn't have serial ports. So then when I go into jungleflasher I am unable to extract the keys as no ports show up. Any help with this would be hugely appreciated, thanks in advance!

EDIT: Problem solved, I just downloaded an older driver and it works fine.

Just to update this thread, I was successfully able to mod this Xbox 360 and it is now running on iXtreme LT1.1. I have a quick question that I hope somebody knowledgeable on the topic will be able to answer. The Xbox 360 that I have modded here came without a hard-drive, I have an Xbox 360 elite that is completely stock (in no way modified) that I use to play my games online. If I was to share and continuously swap the hard-drive between my Xbox 360 Elite and the modded Xbox 360 that I have just completed could I be risking banning my Xbox 360 Elite that is totally stock? thanks for any replies in advance!

Thanks for replying, that is good to read. Can anybody else also confirm this? the only reason I will be swapping hard-drives is for transferring my gamertag and so I can store a number of games on the Elites hard-drive so that the DVD-Drive in my modded Xbox 360 doesn't have to work too hard.

Why? Is my word not good enough? As i said, your elite wont get banned for this. The worst that will happen is your modded xbox gets banned and your game saves will be corrupt when you transfer the drive

I'm sorry Mike, I just figured the more replies providing the same general consensus the better but I trust you (you've given me good advice in a number of threads) so I have started sharing the Xbox 360 hard-drive.
