Activate iso help needed

I picked up a pre-flashed xbox 360 which plays older backups fine, however it won't play newer disks. So I got an activate iso disk, however when its played it displayes the screen which says "play this disk in xbox 360 console" in many languages. When I next swap the disk to a backup version of newer game the console treats the game like a dvd movie and shows xbox logo with dvd controls.

Am I using the activate disk in a wrong way?
Any help appreciated.

Make sure your activate ISO is burned ON a dual layer AS a single layer.

Hi yes its burned on a DL disk, activation disk works fine in friends console.
