Noob firmware problems

I have been away from my PSP for a long while, three years to be exact. I just fixed my old PSP and downgraded it to 1.50 with the GTA disk but I am now stuck. I can run 2.71 firmware but that's as far as I can get. I want to play 6.00 games and homebrew but am at a loss. Can anyone give me a hand please, I have been searching for days but I am still stuck.

I am now running 5.03 ChickHEN R2 and have fat TA-81 PSP 1000. I have tried many CFW but have had no luck so far. Could someone give me a hand?

I now have 5.00 M33-6 CFW. What can I do with this? I want to run 6.00 games.

im surprised by the non help usealy someone would by now but if you still want to play 6.xx games the get 5.50 gen d3 that works for me wen im playing games like prince of persia lost sand and army of two the 40th day it should work for you hoped i helped

Actually, stick with 5.00m33 (its stable) and get the patched versions of the iso's, all games are now working with 5.00 and 5.50gen (however as 5.50gen also needs the iso to patch best to stick with the most stable firmware.
If you have a UMD that needs 6.00 you cannot play it on custom firmware as it will update the psp

Thank you or the help both of you. :) I id read that 5.00 was the best for me right now. Another noob question now, how do I know that the iso/cso is patched? What am I looking for?
I wanted to play Socom and the Syphon Filter but they are both 6.00 I think. Am I able to play them?

Yes you can play them
Look for patched for all firmware (or 5.00 specific)
If it does not play on 5.00 but has been patched for gen then you can get a patcher to do this part.
Untouched iso is to be avoided. Unless you want to look into Prometheus patcher or the 6.20 prx for m33(cannot use both)

Since were on the subject, i too have been away from the psp hacking scene for far too long and have just picked up a second hand psp 1000 with 3.03fw installed and have no idea which custom firmware to install to play isos like littlebigplanet fifa10 and god of war. Please help.

how did u get to firware 5.00 m33-6? did you use one of them pandoras batteries or magic memory sticks?

C'mon, somebody throw me a hint. Where do I start with an unhacked psp 1000 running 3.03. Downgrade to 1.50, or Dark alex 3.03 oe-c. Someone out there must know.

Maybe if you wouldn't constantly try to hijack threads someone would've already helped you.

More noob stuff from me. I want to play resistance retribution online but it asks me to update when I try. I tried patching the eboot with prometheus_06_beta1 but that didn't work. Should I use this link ? I'm stuck. Maybe I should add that I can't sign in to the PSNetwork either. I have been at it all week but it is time to admit I am still noobish and need a helping hand. I can't play SOCOM3 either.

I guess it wasn't what I needed. I am now on 5.50 gen-a (full) and still can't sign in to the psnetwork. Any ideas?

Get PSNLover. That's a little homebrew tool that should do the trick (if it still works that is). Also, if you want to be on the newest firmware, go to 5.50 Gen-D3.

Thanks. I got hold of psnfu*ker and that didn't work. I spent all night working this out. I installed gen a then its patch, I then installed ged d and its patch. I loaded psn twice but most of the time it won't work. I can now also play resistance retribution online although I have not tried socom3 yet. Sometimes it took a few tries to get resistance retribution to log me in but it does work.
If anyone needs help with this I can show you the files I used or even send them to you.
I still don't know exactly what I have done (sure I installed firmware but I don't know exactly what it entails) but at least I can play now. Thank you all for your help, I got there in the end.
