As long as yo scraped the green silicone off of the traces to expose the copper underneath, you should be able just put a little bit of solder on the cuts, and get it to flow, reconnecting the traces. Hope you're using a multi-meter to check the re-connections.

bah, get some real solder that lead free shit turns into a bloody mess. but if you must use lead free please don't use a solder iron hotter than 15 watts.

If you've never soldered before, you could damage the PCB. As stated above. Check your cuts are good with a multimeter. Dump the firmware, then solder the traces back together and check again with a multimeter. Connect to pc, if the drive ejects, you did it right. If it doesn't, recheck connections.

I have a lt clip so I'm thinking about just using the clip as a tester only. as far as soldering, I have never done it before.. I have a few amps to practice on just to get the feel of it... still a little confused on the cut traces & soldering. also confused on wen do I solder. do I solder before I mod or after..

I would really advise you to read a lot more before attempting this. The only reason I say this is because the questions you are asking sounds like you have not read up on it a lot and you don't want to get into the job and find out that it is not in your experience level. No disrespect intended.

what's confusing to me is dat all the tutorials I read & videos I watch are different... for example.. haven't seen the ck3 probe 2 in any youtube videos... but for now I'm just trying to get the trace cuts down... fixing to remove drive & take a look at what I'm working with...

It all depends on what drive you have as to what steps you take.

ahh, it doesn't depend on what drive you have. All liteon drives dump the same if you are doing a full dump. It does depend on what method you are using to do the dump. Just get an xtractor with a vampire probe. This only requires two cuts. You could also just spend the money and get the solderless clip since you don't know how to solder. You can get that here:

Sorry Modking... you are 100% right... Guess I am half asleep. What I meant was that it depends on what method you want to use IE: what equipment you have such as a probe, or the clip, or the Xecuter LT Switch. Sorry for the mis-wording. That is probably why he is seeing different steps taken in the different videos.

I would really recommend getting the jungle flasher tutorial and working through it step by step. But just do it as a dry run first so that when you really get ready to do it then you will already have half an idea of what will be coming up.

oh I have a lt clip... I was only going to use it a tester because I plan on modding more than 1 & I cranked up my soldering iron didn't seem too difficult to operate.... I just need to look at a good video & make sure I do everything in order (which is what I'm worried about the most besides makin the trace cuts)

Hey OptPrime, I would have thought this would be easy for an AutoBot to do. Check your PMs.

Cut the traces and use your probe to dump the firmware. With that, at least you can spoof to another drive if needed.

LMAO!!! I don't think these kids even know what an autobot is. I remember watching that when I was like 6. (of course I'm 8 now, or act like it ;)

so here's how I understand this & please correct me if I'm wrong..... you cut the traces, then use probe 2 to extract the key, then flash the drive, then after the drive is flashed you solder it.... is that correct? and on a side note do you have to have a trace repair pen?

You have to solder the traces back in order to flash it. You need to use a multimeter to confirm your cuts are good and same when you solder it back together.

great.. I understand the process now.. I was a little bit confused because I seen so many different tutorials on how to cut traces or how to flash & they would only show that one step & not the whole rocess from start to finish..... so let me make sure I got it straight this time.. test with multimeter, cut traces, test again, dump key, solder, test again, then go back t jungleflasher & flash...
