I have a lite on DG-16D2S-09C and was wondering if I could just swap the boards in the broke dvd player to the new dvd player and not have to mess with flashing anything? I believe I'm capable of soldering the wires that need to be swapped. Or is flashing the only option I have?
Thanks

What FW version is it? 83850C or 93450C?
If you have the same FW version you will be able to swap boards.

SO I'M GUESSING THAT A DVD WITH DG-16D2S AND NOT DG-16D2S-09C WONT WORK AND THAT ALL THE NUMBERS MS AND PLDS MUST MATCH EXACTLY AS WELL AS THE FIRMWARE. REASON I'M ASKING I'VE FOUND SEVERAL DRIVES BUT MOST EITHER DON'T HAVE THE 09C OR THE PLDS OR MS #'S ARE OFF BY ONE DIGIT, I'M ASSUMING I HAVE TO HAVE AN EXACT MATCH ON EVERYTHING OR IT WONT WORK. AM I CORRECT IN ASSUMING THIS?
THANKS AGAIN

Just make sure you match the firmware version is the same. If its a 8 series, then try get one manufactured around the same date and you will be fine.

I don't know about that leerage. I'm 99.9999999% sure I swapped the boards of a non-working 74850 with a working 83850v2 or 93450. It worked.

This is correct. The only difference is the PCB. The unit other than that is exactly the same. It will work! (of course I'm sure he doesn't know how to solder)

SO THAT STILL LEAVES ME WONDERING IF THE MS OR PLDS OR THAT MODEL # DG-16D2S-09C HAS TO MATCH EXACTLY OR IF THEY CAN BE OFF A DIGIT OR TWO LIKE END PLDS # IN 31 INSTEAD OF 33 ETC...

The drives are exactly the same. First would not matter since it's stored on the pcb. Swapping should work fine. You'll simply carry the firmware from the old drive to the new one.

I checked it and it is a 74850 board that I put into a 93450.
Other than the firmware on the boards, the drives are identical.
So yes it will work.

Since I was the first in this thread to mention that I possibly did what the OP is trying to do, I simply double checked to be sure.

Cool, good to know. I haven't ever had to swap boards. I was assuming since the OSIG in JF reports [PLDS DG-16D2S 7485] or 8385 9345, they would need to match.
