hey this is my first post here. I just ordered a epson r200 printer and i have Ridata Ritek g04 4x dvd-rs matte finish http://supermediastore.com/ritek-4xdvdr-fs.html
Can i print on these? or do i need to get the white label ones..If i need white label ones, which would u guys recommend? thx!

Some of the matte are printable,did u order printable discs.Try one & see the most u might end up doing is washing it off with a little bit of rubbing alchol

If they are silver matte finish they will probably print. However anywhere your picture is suppose to be white will show matte silver instead. Like stated above, printing may not hold up as well as on a regular printable disc.

i tried printing a mostly black cover on the silver matte finish yesterday, and it looked all smudged. I checked it this morning, and i could barely make out the letters, and the ink was still totaly wet. I'm gonna buy those white top ritkes i guess, thx all.

I had the same experience with the matt finish.
I just bought the silver printable prodisc and they work great, ink dries instantly.

I bought a 50 pack of the Prodisc DVD-R Silver Inkjet.They have a little lighter AZO Dye then RitekGO4,hopefully they will hold up-only time will tell.They are about $0.25 cheaperThey Write well,& with DVDInfoPro no bad blocks.Burned 10 in a row so far.They Print nice except where you need white,the silver matte shines through,they have a slight metalic sheen which is kinda nice if u like that sort of thing.
Burned With Plextor PX-708A,& NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A

There was a short write-up about them supposedly being
Certified by Pioneer,which is why I decided to try them.But you can't always trust in name brand products.
I've tried Circuit City's(LiquidVideo)which are OPTODISK001,CompUSA brand Disc(Princo),& Memorex(CMC MAG AF1).All not so GOOD,at 2to3 Discs out of 10 had BAD Blocks.
Well only time will tell,lets hope we get feed back on these Discs.It is really not a big savings,but if u got KIDS,EVERYTHING is quickly BREAKABLE & u constantly have to replace.Every Penny counts.

I have burned about 600 prodisc with good results.
Ritek uses organic dye, Prodisc uses the new azo metal.

Hello their 64026402.Thanks for the reply.Don't know what the difference in organic dye & azo metal is,but some day I'll learn.But I'm on my 30th Prodisc & still no flaws,just as good so far as Ritek.But I guess what most of us are concerned about is the life span of our Disc's over the cost.At least that is my concern,but I guess only time will tell.As DVD burning at home is still an infant,not at all like stamping.But again many thanks.Hope to here more response on all Disc's actually.keep everybody heading in the righr direction

Prodisc is Grade a quality and with azo they should have good long term capability.

I have burned about 300 prodisc with ZERO problems. I started about a year and a half ago and all my discs still perform just like they did when I first burned them. So I know they will at least last a year. The good thing about backing up your discs is that you still own the original. All my originals are in boxed storage in a nice dry place, so if I ever do have a problem I can just go back and reburn from the origianl. I usually back up the disc right after I get it home from the store.
