can someone please help me i am trying to change my ps3 from nat 3 to nat 1 or 2 so i can play online with my mates, i have been tryin for a couple of days now but no luck.
i gave my ps3 a static ip and opened all the ports but still i am on nat 3 i even tried connecting the router to the ps3 still no luck. the router is a netopia nwg,i enabled upnp on the router and the ps3 but it says that it is not enabled.
can someone please help a very pissed of scotsman fix this before i either pull out all my hair or murder my wife. lol
First, the UPNP has nothing to do with anything game-related; you can disable that.
You could try putting the PS3 on a static IP, and then putting that IP into the DMZ, and then restarting the router (with the PS3 off), and then starting the PS3.
Other than that, I think you are out of options. That router is designed to offer almost no features, because their primary customers are service providers that don't want features in their routers. You can always get a very nice gigabit router with DD-WRT support for under $40USD.

are you on eircom bigman75? if you are log into your router go to Security=>Firewall=>Off=>apply your NAT will be open hopefully this helps you you don't need the firewall on the router i have the same router and my NAT is open on the ps3

The Bewan router that we are currently offering to our customers has the ability to customise NAT traversal. Included on the router are predefined settings for PS3, Xbox and others, found under the applications menu
