So how do we get it now? I plan on buying a copy anyways because I love Bungie but I would like to get the campaign outta the way first before I go online. As with all the Halos I always play the campaign first.

If you got ahold of the .xcp, they have a program now to convert it to a GoD. Then convert it to an iso with GoD2ISO. Once you get the ISO extract the contents then FTP it to your JTAG.

agreed. Halo has sucked for a while now. Look at the black ops trailer too. Look familar? Yep, MW2 with new maps and guns. Not so different.

Updated visuals, more enemies on screen at once and a refined Forge map editor seem to be the only real additions. The formula hasn't changed. I won't bother with this unless it gets high review scores.

I gotta say, I was never a Halo fan myself. Never played 1 or 2. When H3 came out I was still semi new to LIVE, and at the time CoD 3 was what I was playing online. So I played H3 online and actually enjoyed it. I didn't care for the story at all.
So I suppose I would have recommended it back then. Although, when CoD 4 (MW) came out I didn't touch H3 again.
Now-a-days we have a decent selection of shooters to choose from (for online). So I wonder how H:R is going to fair this time around. We all know already that it's going to sell in big numbers. But are all the stats going to be high like H3 was. I wouldn't make a bet on either side. Halo is EXTREMELY popular, but these days it has the CoD's to deal with.
It'll be interesting to see how the numbers pan out.
As for Black Op, I thought the exact same thing when I seen the mp vid; a re badged MW2. Perks, killstreaks, no recoil, no bullet drop, etc. Sure, it makes for a good arcade shooter, but that also attracts the kids, glitchers, encourages camping instead of teamplay, and on and on.
I've migrated back to pc gaming and haven't played on LIVE for quite awhile now, so Black Ops having dedicated servers is a big plus. I haven't even touched MW2 on the pc because of the lack of dedicated servers. MW2 is a cheaters haven right now.
I've already got MoH preordered. I played the beta and really enjoyed it. It was like playing MW2 maps, but the gameplay was like BC2. So I'll be playing it on day one. I don't know yet if I'll be playing B:O at launch or not. Plus with the Bad Company Vietnam pack coming out, it's going to be a busy fall :)

Is there going to be a non-JTAG version to download soon? Or is the download that's all over the web going to be for JTAG only until the game releases?

halo, halo 2, and halo 3 were fun for me. odst was boderline boring. reach has that same borderline feel of odst. just finished the campaign today. now we are checking out the multiplayer and firefight maps. the thing I'm happiest about is that they finally brought back the all-time favorite map from halo/halo3 which is blood gulch/coagulation. I cant remember the name of it at the moment.
anyway yeah halo has lost it's luster but it's still a good game. it's better than 85% of the FPS's out there. it will always be a good game, we just expect too much because of it's former glory, just like a super bowl team.

It has no SS, PFI, DMI, etc. Only JTAGs and XDKs will play it.

the copy that is out there right now was compiled from the .xcp file and you can not compile a PROPER ISO out of it, not one that the dvd drive will be able to recognize. Just like lee said

The main thing I'm interested in with Reach is the Firefight mode. I never played ODST but I loved the Horde mode in Gears 2. I just hope Reach isn't just Halo 3 in 720p and I hope there aren't many kids playing the multiplayer. That's what turned me off Halo 3 online.

The Firefight mode in Halo Reach is pretty fun.

This game is now leaked in target stores. They have them hidden and not on the shelf, but friends buddies are sneaking them out. Anyone know someone who works at target?
