Nice way of getting help, by insulting people because you are impatient :(

oh you reckon, least thats a glimmer of hope the most common response i see is- "bring it to sony", you aint going to learn much that way atleast if you attempt your self ya get better at understanding the complications.

If you have the Phat, there are two gray arms that pull the disk in and align the disk as it pulls it in. These arms are easy to get out of track if the lid was pulled off on the disk drive. Check the arms to make sure they are still in their track.
Watch Mike's video. About 1 minute and 40 seconds into the video, you will see the proper operation of the arms.

basically the drive looks pretty ok going off vids on youtube but when i leave the black casing on it and trying to put disc in it takes it in but doesnt land it on the spindle- although if i hold a little pressure on the casing it slots it in some times but not all times??

yes thanks, i have resolved this one, and you are right it is based on top part of drive, the white pieces on top are spring loaded (except for one) so each go in to proper position when drive is assembled together, the one without the spring action needs to be manually placed in its slot and off she goes perfect- although ps3 is still broke the disc dont spin but assume this needs new laser. thanks for help guys.
