hi everyone, i was (stupidly) a bit rough with the lock which locks the blu-ray drive ribbon on to the motherboard and have tried everything to wedge it in but it wont stay in. i have searched the whole google but cant find where to get a replacement. its only a little plastic thing which is doing my head in. i really hope someone can help me please

You might be able to find a replacement connector on DigiKey...carefully remove the lock from that.

thankyou so much KilleerBug, i went to the site and typed clip, ribbon, n lock in the search bar but cant find the clip i want as i dont know what its called. have you bought 1 from here if so could you give me the product number please n if not do you know what its called. thanks. clare xx

I have not bought one from there, in fact I am not 100% sure which version of the clip you need as I don't even know what version PS3 you have, nor do I know the specific part numbers even if I had the PS3 version. The ribbon cables used are called FFC...so I would count the number of conductors and type "XX Pin FFC", and then check "in stock" and search...that should drop the selection to a few dozen, and you can easily browse for the one that looks like what you need.
