I use 360 Waves Patcher to patch my back ups to wave 3 so that I can play them on my 360. On my harddrive I have about 20 XBox Live games that I downloaded on my previous 360, these games will only play as demos because apparently I have to transfer the licences to my present 360. To transfer these game licenses I have to sign in to XBox Live but before I can sign in I have to accept a new MS Dashboard Update. My problem is that if I accept the latest dashboard update will my backups no longer work? I am presently using dashboard v 2.0.8955.0 Thanks in advance for any help.

Your backups will still work, however, you're taking a chance on being banned from xbox live. I believe that they can detect wave patching. That would kind of defeat the purpose of transferring your game licenses because if you get banned, you can't connect to live to transfer the console license to your new console. It's a 50/50 shot. Nobody knows for sure of the ways that M$ bans consoles. I would think that wave patching would catch their attention though.

Thanks BillB, I do not play my backups online, when I use XBox Live mainly for downloading or playing XBox Live games I make sure that there are no backups in the drive. For MS to detect wave patching surely I would have to have a 'wavepatched' backup in the drive.
