Non modded xbox plays dvds but not games

Basically what i said above. I had a broken dvd drive and i switched the worm motor out of a working one and put it in the broken one then it booted the game but then stopped and said play dvd. Then i tried a dvd in the drive and it played no problem? please help me out. thanks!

If the dvd drive board (pcb) was not replaced then I would say it is your media. The play dvd error usually occurs in systems with non-matching dvd drives or non-matching pcbs. Are you using verbatim discs? I sort of remember having this problem when I had a laser that needed to be calibrated. Try recalibrating or replacing the laser if the other steps don't work.

i am using an actual game not a modded one. This drive isnt even flashed
