Apple iOS 4.1 launching on Wednesday

article published on 6 September, 2010

Apple's UK site has revealed this weekend that the iOS 4.1 software update will be released on September 8th. The American site still lists the update as "coming soon." "It is important to note that iPad owners will not receive 4.1 and will have to wait for 4.2 to receive all the upgrades."

Isn't that nice of them...they make a tablet that is tied to a phone OS, and then they won't even release updates for it.

I just hope that this update does not take forever to install on my iPhone. Just last week i updated my phone and it took forever for the phone to get recognized on my computer again and to start installing the new operating system took my 4 hours to get it up and running again plus recovering all my old data. It worked fine just took ages.

Furthermore, the update will fix bugs and other issues from the original 4.1 release. iPhone 3G owners should be ecstatic as 4.1 should eliminate the excessive slowdown caused by the OS.
I think this will help my phone out a lot :)

Hopefully it will fix the proximity sensor issues on the iPhone 4. I'm tired of my phone putting my call on hold or even dialing another number because it can't distinguish when my face is touching the screen.

The iOS 4 testers said that apparently it doesn't fix the proximity sensor.
That might change in the final release though.

Hmm.. I haven't experienced that on my iPhone 4.
