I haven't updated yet. I'm using the the proxy workaround until that is blocked to get on psn. If it takes to long ill just have yo update. I don't want to wait around like I did when geohot said don't update past 3.15.
i'll agree with some things but 2xusb, BWC and card readers has been removed to reduce the cost/price
The people that got ps3's lacking this features is cause they haven't payed for this features in 1st place, Its not like the otherOS story, that we have payed for it and it was removed without been even asked.
We should complain for the following things too then , that got smaller, cheaper,quieter , more reliable, consumes less power, and has larger HDD capacity.
PS3 when it was released had a price tag of 660euros, now it costs 299euros and its by far a better more reliable console than it was.
I agree that it lacks some features and if this features comes back will cost less now than they used to, but from the 1st sku lacking +2usb's,CR and BWC the only feature that was actually useful is the BWC.
and if i am not mistaken, the PS3 prototype had 2xEthernet , 2xHDMI, 5-6usb's (or something like that) and a boomerang/banana controller .... lets complain about this features that went off too.
Sony is trying really hard to keep PS3 locked and so far is doing really well, IMO ps3 is just a lab rat in that matter, they get as much knowledge as they can and every new console (at least from sony) PSP2 or PS4 will be more difficult to unlock.
They let PSN free (except from the obvious reasons marketing/ control) so people get used to it and be skeptical if they want to loose it or not,(Trophys,Home,DC Universe, Games Updates,F@H etc etc) and from the other side there are people that already payed for PSN Plus....
If they actually found a way to lock jb for good, i dont know how many will stay at FW 3.41 and play games thats compatible up to 3.41fw and play them without on-line/trophys/updates/ DLC payed or free.,,,,,and if its true that sony can detect anything on ps3 or the proxy tools/servers and ban consoles......i dont know where that can lead.
I sure hope that they keep releasing updates for the Teensy route; I really don't care about running my games off the hard drive so much...and I can even live without MKV and NTFS support if I really have to, but I want linux back, and the jailbreak seems like the most reasonable route to this goal.
