Good Morning All,

I got a problem going on with Decrypter. Just bought a spindle of Ritek discs. These are the same discs that I have been using for 2yrs with no problems. That being said. I use Shrink to rip my movie and then when decrypter pops up, I put my disk in and it tells me "Failed to set write parameters" What the F*ck it this!!

Do you have the newest version of Decrypter? One of the changes to the current version is the coding that sets the write parameters.
New version: 3.2.2.0

I would sure suspect the media if I opened a new spindle and started having problems.

Might just be a bad batch of DVDs too. I've had that happen at my job - had lots of angry clients for about 2 weeks until we figured out what happened. Had to re-burn a ton of videos. Man that was a bad week.

No, its not the DVD-Rs. I bought a spindle last week and another one this week. Two different brands too.
Shrink is working fine but none of the burning programs are not responding the way they should be. I go to the preferences and check the box to burn with Nero and when shrink is done, Nero never comes on. If it does and I stick in a disc, it tells me that the compilation is too big. So, I iso write and start using Decrypter and now the write parameters are f*cked up. I don't know. I love Shrink but I have to admit that I had less problems with Xcopy.

If you have the Nero box checked in Shrink, you need to have your blank disc in the burner. You don't wait until Shrink is done before putting the disc in.

If Nero is telling you your compilation is too big then it probably is. It should be no bigger than 4464 mb or so. That is the default size Shrink will try and compress the movie to, unless its really big. If it is too big for Shrink to handle you will see red in the green bar near the top of the Shrink window.

It sounds like when this fails you are opening decrypter and trying to burn the files that Nero couldn't...

So, I iso write and start using Decrypter
Unless you have selected ISO disc image as a target in Shrink, thats not going to work.
You were trying to burn using Shrink/Nero so you would have enabled Nero in preferences..

..and set the target as your burner. This creates DVD-Video files on your hard drive, not an iso. Decrypter cannot burn these DVD-Video files.

Ok. When I open Shrink I always create or burn an iso image and I make sure that the box is not checked that says use Nero. When I begin to back up the movie I check the box that says use decrypter when done. I know decrypter only burn iso images. I have burn many movies with the Shrink/Decrypter combo. As of Monday, Decrypter decides to say that my write paramters are jacked. I don't understand. So I burn the movie again using Nero and burning it to files and folders instead of iso images because Nero doesn't handle that and I still get compilation too big error. I never get a red bar on Shrink before I burn so I don't understand why the compilation would be too big. I have used eithier combo at will and it has worked except for lately and I can't figure out what is going on.

What I have figured out so far is that two seperate burning programs don't like the size of the folder on your hard drive that you want to burn. Can you go into explorer and right click the folder then select properties? that should show how big it actually is.

I had a similar thing happen, I had a movie on my hard drive that Shrink had made. I played it with my media player and for some reason it added a file of its own to the movie. This was a media player that came with my DVD ROM. "MSIDVD" is now history.

I sure would consider removing and reinstalling Shrink. Do other movies also screw up in the same way?
