Hello, I have bought recently a ps3 40gb fat firmware version 2.60.
I want to know if I can hack it by firmware or some software to run games from the internet, burned iso's of games to dvd's.I don't want to buy a mod chip.
Can somebody help me?there are so many hacking guides I don't even know from where to start.thx
1) The only free way to play backups is if you have one of the devices the exploit has been ported to. Google to find out if you have one of teh devices
2) atm you wont be able to play online, and even if they get past 3.42 they' will then ban consoles, so big risk
3) the exploit works on the hdd not on burnt isos on dvds. You wasted your dvds
4) Choose which whay you want to do it, most likely you will have to buy something!

Nice summary by let me lighten the situation by looking on the brighter side by saying he can still use he dvds for actual movies :) and IF he already owns one of the rooted android devices supported by psfreedom he might not have to buy anything after all.
well I don't care about the wasted dvd's(hope the day I will use them will come).
and I don't care about playing online, I just want to play them offline.
atm I don't have an android phone,but what you are saying is that if I hack the ps3 with nexus one etc. I could use the dvd's?

Noope sorry still won't be able to use the disc. I was just saying if you have one of the android phones compatable with psfreedom you wouldn't have to spend money, then you can use it to jailbreak the ps3 and install the backup manager. Using the backup manager you will not have any use for disc because you can install games on your internal drive or an external drives formatted in fat32. I don't think that the psjailbreak supports playing backups from disc as yet.
Its now possible to play PS3 backup games from a DVD-R. Some will say its a waste of $$$ since you can load backups via USB, well it seems that the backups that once failed or crash via USB, work perfectly when running of DVD-R. Here's the link for more info

Read the blackcat method I posted. You don't need to use a phone and it's cheaper.
