Search came back with a 100 Xbox drive results, this is for the SH-D163B.

I JUST received my drive in the mail today, followed a tutorial on flashing it with Kreon, used the firmware for my specific drive .. started by saying "updating to old version!" i googled, said to ignore this, followed through then "failed! Restart windows" Restarted, now my drive is bricked.

Nothing recognises it at all, could someone point me in the direction of a tutorial for making a bootable usb? Or how the hell i can get the kreon firmware on this drive now. Better not be $40 down the drain =(.

Nothing works for me ... *sigh*

Well ... umm ... after my computer was reset about 3 times, my DVD-ROM drive decided to magically work ... i don't like it when technology fixes itself, quite unsettling.

Backup creator says it has Kreon v1 ... so we'll see how it goes.

Use dosflash and download the kreon firmware from xbins. I just did one yesterday no problems.
