Last month PSJailbreak showed the world that the PS3's security model was open to be exploited, and Sony was quick to shut down the project.
Last week, PSGroove, the "open source PSJailbreak," was released to the masses, giving owners a chance to jailbreak their PS3 for a lot cheaper than the $170 PSJailbreak.

Unless you need it for school or something (It's an older-model Graphing Calculator) I wouldn't recommend it. The cheapest one I could find was $40 shipped on eBay, most were $55+.
Assuming updates for the Jailbreak still use Teensy++ or AT90USBkey you'd be better off waiting for places to get them back in stock.

Yes updates still use Teensy and now there are so many cloned keys you can practically find them anywhere from $30 - $80.

This isn't news...the ti84 was on the original list of supported devices...you might as well announce that it now works with the Teensy!

Yes, it was announced as an originally approved device.
The reason for this "news" article, it appears, is because the video shows that PSGroove actually works with the TI-84/Plus.
