best 12v source in a 360

hi, i need to make a 12v source inside my 360 for LED'S, i read i could use the dvd drive power cable to do this but, would that decrease the drive power or performance? or could someone tell me a better one? i can solder abit of an amature tho! lol

This is the 12v source I use:
I certainly prefer it to the dvd cable because like you I was concerned with potential power loss to the drive. This way it comes in right at the source where it should make the least impact. It's also pretty easy to solder to but be sure to keep your connections short so if it moves it doesnt ground out and make a short

Just use the dvd drive. Most people use that for the fan mod. As long as you're not drawing too many devices from it, it will be fine.

i will be using it to power 2 lots of 12v flexible led strips each contain 24 leds. and maybe abit more intime thats why i might go to the power pack source really

ok im new to the whole led install thing so heres an idea forgive me if im wrong

but why not have a battery pack and a small switch on the xbox then theres no need for solder and it'll be really easy to install

it is a good idea i suppose, but apart from buying or recharging the batterys, that would be abit of hassle.

i did as the pic showed and i know have a working power supply, luckily as i was doing it my lights turned up in the post aswell, so bonus :) my elite is GLOWING blue, wait for the perspex to do the window mod now!
