Is it possible to do this without a transfer cable and just a sata?(like transfer files to the hdd after the usb flash)

You should really do more research. The jtag has nothing to do with transferring. It's the software you need to get onto a hard drive or usb device of some kind. Usb can use usb so you don't need a transfer cable. That is only needed if you are using the stock hard drive.

Is there any tools for modding a 9199 or post? incudling solidering?or does the efuses kinda limit all tools to zip-0?

You can flash the drive and that is it. NO jtag possible.

just to make sure im following this thread correctly so if i get a 2.0.7371.0 or lower i should be able to jtag without soldier or is the soldiering still required?

I was watching on youtube that you could use a usb and transfer cable to jtag but did they forget to mention the soldier the program he used is called Usb flash wiz 1.7

THIS is the ONLY way to JTAG a 360, if you believe everything you see on youtube you deserve the virus that is hidden in that program :P
