Xbox 360 HDD as Laptop HD

My roommate's Laptop's HDD died on him, and he needs to be able to use a computer until his new HDD shows up.
I recently bought a new xbox, so I had the old 20GB HD Lying around, conveniently out of it's case! I replaced his HD with the 360's HD, booted a Ubuntu Live CD, and attempted to install ubuntu to the HD. This is where I ran into problems. The Disk Management utility could not do anything at all to the disk. Any attempt at mounting or formatting etc... would produce an error that said that the "Daemon is being inhibited."
I was able to wipe the disk with shred, and format it with gparted, however I still can not mount it.

So my question is: what does an inhibited deamon, and how can I un-inhibit it?

Any help would be appreciated!

I actually just figured it out. All it needed was a reboot!
