Hi guys have anyone using the ps groove or any other dongle get banned yet on psn, also lads will there ever be a process of maybe ps3 games online like iso's or will the game always have to be backed up by disc?

No one has been banned yet, though it is apparently VERY easy for sony to tell that you're running backups at this point. If they decide to start banning people, then they'll probably do it all at once like microsoft does. MS logs modded machines and then bans in mass once or twice a year.

If you are using the dongle, then you have the old firmware. If you have the old firmware, you cannot connect to the PSN. If you cannot connect to the PSN, then there is no reason to connect a PS3 to the internet. And if the system is not connected to the internet, then there is no way for sony to detect anything.
(yes...I know I ignored those who don't have a PC and may want the internet for web browsing)

oh really is it not possible so to play online so when using back ups!
update: guys anyone got a link to somewhere to find out more about the ps3 hacks checking google but everything is all over the place and want to refrain form asking ignorant and lazy questions like the one above i asked earlier.

Dongle...some of the android ports are just as good, but most of them are buggy, and cause a lot of problems on your phone...the version for the moto droid is a prime example of one that is guilty of both.
I have been following haxnetwork.net for my news on the subject...they have essentially dedicated the whole site to this one subject.

Well I used my G1 for the process and I had to give up the usb features on the phone but that really isn't a big deal because I don't really use it anyway. If I had a dongle maybe it would do a comparsion but I just went to cheapest way possible for me.

Most of them say that you can take it out once you system is boot. I usually take my phone out if I'm going to use it, if not I leave it in charging.

I use my TI-84 calc. I don't think I'll be banned because when I first used PSGroove (through the TI-84 port) my firmware needed to be updated to login to PSN. So, I didn't login and so I don't think Sony detected anything. Plus, I didn't actually use any backups or anything. All I've done so far is use the FTP app and mess around with some SDK samples.
Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

I have been using my htc hd2 running android to jb my ps3 and have both a stealth manager and a regular backup mgr....I want to try online play or just even log into psn , but it tells me i need to update to the latest firmware....what do i need to do in order to be online while jailbroken?

I hate to say it but this could lead to getting another ps3. I like online gaming but love a wide selection of games.
Or this could lead me to the dark side...as I believe you can rock backed up 360 games online??

You need to update the PS3's firmware, obviously.
Or does one of those proxy methods still work? I'm not sure if Sony blocked it or not.
But anyway, until the scene figures out how to create custom firmwares, I doubt you'll be able to get onto PSN.

I am sure there will be updates for the dongles with the newer firmwares on the PS3. Just give things time, this all only started in the last couple weeks.
Look at the wii, they found ways around all that with the softmod, and you are still able to access the internet.

Yeah, but look at the Wii. Its security wasn't pimped out like the PS3's. It's a Gamecube with an infrared sensor. And its internet is nowhere near as important to Nintendo as the PS3's internet is to Sony.

Not that you're not right; I just think the analogy's a bit misleading.
