Hi guy's :) I'm looking for your help/experience here if possible.
Ok so I've been using modded consoles for years now ps2,wii and xbox360 but I've always paid some random guy off the net to do it for me as I either hadn't got the time or tools or just didn't feel I could do the job. But I paid some guy ?60 to flash my son's xbox360 a couple months back and when I got it back, back-up's wouldn't play but music cd's would, bottom line was drive was messed up, so I got a shop to replace and flash a new drive for me which cost me another ?100 in total, expensive mod don't ya think ?
Well now I've been made redundand from my job I have some free time to myself and with the recession I reckon it's time I started to do my own modding.
As a newb to the modding I'm jumping in with 2 feet as I've just ordered a wiikey fusion for my kids wii :D but back on topic can you tell me if this >>> http://shop.01media.com/info.asp?ProductID=38534 is ALL I need to mod an Xbox360 ?
I've scoured the forums here and googled but with so many mods/switches and kits for the xbox360 my head is nearly spinning and getting a head ache at this stage.
I don't care what I have to order or expense wise but I want to get it all together so I don't have to wait weeks for another order to arrive.
With Christmas approaching and my other son wanting/getting a 360 I'd like to get the show on the road now so I'm not sure what type of drive I'll be flashing but I'm looking for a complete kit with everything needed to flash the oldest of drives right to the newest ones so if one of you guy's can let me know if the above linked will do the job or maybe point me in the right direction.
I'm only responding because you seem to have put in some effort yourself.
Some PCs can detect an Xbox 360DVD drive. Those that can't need a VIA 6421 controller card to detect it.
You linked two products that do the same thing:
1) Xtractor Pro V2 & Vampire.
2) Xecuter Connectivity kit v3 Pro & Probe. (But it's the old probe. You want the Probe II.)
I use the Xecuter, but both do the same job, which is to get a FULL dump of the Lite-On drives.
You'll also need to download and install Port I/O drivers.
Download Jungle Flasher to do the job, and it's tutorial to explain the setup and process step-by-step.
Dude, google. Easy answers found fast. If you can not solder, don't waste your time. All lite on drives require soldering. You obviously a noob since you ordered a wiikey for your wii when you don't even need one to play wii backups, but that is a separate issue.
Hi guy's and thanks for the reply and I do appreciate the replies. I've been around long enough to know to google first and research before posting, I'm here at AD over 5 years and I learned that very early on ;)
Yes I am newb at the consoles ModKing30, I'm more pc/software but I just have to learn this now as I can't afford to keep paying out money every time I want a 360 flashed or a firmware upgrade. In regards the wii, yes I know you can soft mod it but from googling also from what I've read, don't know how true it is but I've read a firmware upgrade can knock out the mod and it has to be done again, as I said don't know how true it is but that is fine for me either way but If I soft mod family/friends wii, well you know how people can react with silly comments as in "it's broken/not working" ect.. so as I used the wiikey before without any issues I opted for the fusion to check it out.
Ok from the looks of it I think I'd feel more comfortable with Xecuter Connectivity kit v3Pro & Probe II. So this will do all drives including lite on but soldering is only required for the lite on.
Bottom line is for me to get flashing I need to order:
1: Xecuter Connectivity kit v3 Pro & Probe II
2: VIA 6421 controller card
3: Soldering kit (only required for lite-on, not required for other drives)

if you get a caig circuit writer pen you will not have to solder anything, you just cut the traces and fill them back in with the pen, no need really to solder.
