Problems with MS Customer Support

so here's the deal... I have 5 xbox systems that are all still in warranty, set up with MS to send them all in... they said all is good, and emailed me the shipping labels... a few days go by, and I'm litterally just about to send them in, and I get a call from MS saying: "upon further investigation, we've found out that you MAY not be the original owner of these systems, and NOT to return them to MS as they will be returned UN-FIXED, and I will be responsible for all shipping costs" ??? WTF!

So I call up MS, speak to some DUMB over-seas lady, and she blurts out that I own too many systems... and that because I set up 5 returns, I was flagged and MS wants receipts for all my systems before they'll fix 'em. She actually said that I'm only supposed to have 4 systems... what a load of shit. So now i've been arguing with MS for a few days now trying to find out why I was flagged...

My question is does it say anywhere within their warranty that its only applicable to the original owner? And secondly, is there any way for them to know if the systems belonged to anyone else before me? I've regestered all the systems online, and all of them came back as being ok.. said something along the lines of... no repair orders have been set up... so I clicked on set up a repair, and it gave me the warranty expiry date which was still good....

MS is more or less demanding receipts for my systems... and i KNOW not everyone will have a receipt from a few years for their systems....

has anyone had a similar incident with MS?? and any suggestions to get my repairs under-way?

Actually it does clearly state that the warranty does apply to only the original owner. Also they can request the receipt as proof of purchase.

Now, it's not common practice for them to request proof of purchase for the average owner, but I can easily understand them asking when a case like yours has come up.

I've sent in dozens upon dozens of consoles in to MS. I've always used xbox.com to register and set up the repair requests. But I've never tried setting up multiple requests at the same time. Mainly because of fear of exactly what you're going through. I have had two out for repair at the same time, but the request was two days apart; not on the same day.

had this happen to me. bullshit is what i say it is. yea, perhaps i wasnt the original owner, but they should have to prove i wasnt the original owner instead of me proving that i am. completely backwards than what a normal court or how any other decision would be made.

Just need to go on the scrounge for xbox receipts now.

Ask all your freinds who have consoles, and get them to ask there freinds, you only need a copy so get them to photocopy or scan for you.

copy of receipt has to show the SN of the console...which isnt hard to change....just scan it in, find the text that matches it, change it, print it out and tell them to piss off on sending in the real thing, you are keeping it for your own records.

the way i look at it is is it shouldn't matter how many I've purchased... whether it be 1 or 100... its still money in the bank for microsoft... and if they made a proper product to begin with, I wouldn't be trying to claim warranty service.... but yeah... I probably shouldn't have set up 5 at the same time **doh**

I have a few receipts, but i'm gonna have to scrounge them up... its a good thing that some of our retailers here in Canada don't scan serial numbers on the receipts.. like Walmart... I just hope that even though theres no serial number, they won't question it....

damn straight....

when a system is regestered, can it be regestered a 2nd time under someone eles's acct? I thought that would have been the flag right there... I thought it wouldn't let me regester it again had someone done it before me..?

happened to me too. They all came back unrepaired. The trick is to make a few accounts and then split them up. Works every time for me.

Can I still do this??? I'm just wondering now that I've already regestered these systems to my account.... If I try to RE-REGESTER with a new account, won't that flag for me for being a second owner, in which they won't warranty either.
