Hey!

I'm using Windows XP and the "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, 2.1.8," to try to make a bootable USB Drive. I set the file system to FAT, select the DOS Files and the prgram reports that all went well. However, when I browse the USB Drive, there are no files and it does not boot. I've got BIOS set to boot from removable devices first.

Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for the help!

I appreciate the link but, the software produced the same, empty directory and no boot, result.

Advice please? I intend to upgrade my 360's hard drive with it.

It can be but it basically makes a usb flash drive bootable in one click. If you know how to use dos, easy task to get your way around.

Okay, Iprep looks interesting.

Is there a size criteria for the flash drive? When I try to write to the 500M flash I want to use, bootable is greyed out. The 1G flash drive, that is already occupied with other data, can be made bootable, however.

Hmm. The booting problem seems to be on this particular laptop. When I try the flash drives in another machine, they boot right up.

However, when I boot the Iprep USB, it won't run hddhackr. It just hangs. Anyway, I've at least got the USB Booting problem worked out (Stupid laptop).

Thanks for your help!

You need to format the flash drive to FAT32
