original game disc needed to run BU Manager?

I heard that you must have an original PS3 game disc, any game will do, to use the backup manager with your jailbreak PS3, is this true?
If so, would a PS3 game demo disc work?

I don't see why not. I just put a PS3 game disc in and my backup worked.
Just try it I guess and see.
I just thought of something. If the backup manager sees the PS3 demo disc, then I am pretty sure it will work.

Yeah this should work fine with a demo disc since it is still a ps3 disc that can be copied.

So this is good news. But I did just read that yes a PS3 demo disc works.

I thought PS3 is hack-proof but not anymore
I'm just waiting for my chip to arrive, but I dont have any original PS3 disc, so should I wait for the devs to make BU manager to run backups without disc or should I just go ahead and buy a retail game?
I mean if they can come up with it soon then I'll wait but if it's a long time then I'll buy a game to run the backups

But if you read it more, it sounds like the compatibility just got worse using Backup manager 2
Might want to see if they improve on that. I think I would pick up a game anyway and stick with Version 1 for now.
But thats just my opinion.
