Whatever you say, say nothing when you talk about you know what for if you know who might hear you, you know what youll get. Youll be sent off to you know where for you would not know how long. Maybe I could search through the threads so you dont have to ??

ok sorry there wasnt much info b4 was getting late this is what ive done so far.....ok so i have myserver box setup and im able to share internaly but looking to share with nextdoor so i have set my ip to static and i have opened port 12000 on my router also i have set up a dyndns acount and downloaded the updater and i have changed the port in my server box to 12000 from 80 and the client box is still at 80 i have also changed the c line in the client box to C:XXXXX.dyndns.org 12000 user pass but there is just a few things i am unsure of...........

when setting up my dyndns am i right in thinking when entering the ip it should be the srver box ip?? if so when i start the updater it says current ip and its totaly different to the one i set on my dyndns

when opening the port on my router i used simple port forwarding so i checked on my router on the firewall rules and it says
inbound services
1 enabled service namee tv action allow always lan server ip address 192.168.x.x which is my pc ip is this right

Dan
if you have set up internal all you need to do is replace the IP in the C line with the DNS account details
there is a little understanding of knowing what this all means,,
dont know how much you know tech wise so ill just keep it basic

IP addresses
Your router will have 2 IP addresses
1. the public IP - something like say 84.200.XX.XX - this is how the outside world finds your router and all network devices behind it, your laptop, box ect
2. the private IP - maybe 192.254.1.1 - this is a private addess and only all your devices in side the home network use this address

for someone to find your box over the net he would need to know your public IP address. as you do not have a static public IP you will use DYNDNS,, then dyndns updater or inadyn will update your public IP address to match your dns name
say you use dan.dyndns.com

day 1 dan.dyndns.com = 84.200.0.1 then it changes
day 2 dan.dyndns.com = 84.200.0.2

so when setting up dyndns it should be the public ip you use

Port forwarding
put simply it is like say a room number in a hotel. dan.dns.com will get you to reception (your router) but if you want to go directly to the room (box) you port forward.
so what you need to do on the router is tell it to forward all traffic coming into it using port 12000 to your box i.e. port forwarding
dont know what router you have but set it up to forward all tcp traffic on port 12000 to your box -so what ever ip address this is.
forget the ip of you pc it is the box ip you need to forward clients to

when this is all setup and you are on the pc in your home goto canyouseeme.org ,, type in 12000 and it will tell you if the port is open. if the box is on and port forwarding working you will get success but if not the client will not be able to connect.
hope thats enough for you
