An anonymous user over at Elotrolado has released a patched version of Backup Manager to support the PSgroove with Hermes changes. We are now able to play PS3 backup s without having a disk inside the PS3 drive. You will need the new version of PSGroove flashed to your USB board.

To install you just need to overwrite the existing one, so you do not have to delete the old/currently installed backup manager.

I have not tested this yet so I can?t give you a 100% it will work, but according to reports it seems to be working, reply back and let me know your results.

Seems that games that once worked with Backup Manager V1, are now broken in Backup Manager V2.

The new PS3key uses Download Backup Manager v2... They did not make any new software. So if Download Backup Manager v2 is not working perfectly , it will not work for PS3key as well ! Please do not mislead the readers...

Just a quick question: it says this new back up manager now points to /bdvd instead of gamez/laun12345. With that being said would it be possible to create a real stealth manager since not only the game id shown is not laun12345 but point of origin would be bdvd, not hdd?

Hi mate, how would you suggest to fix this problem?

I have downgraded to 3.41 and jailbroke using PSFservicemod.

I have Fifa 2011 on my external hard drive. Backup manager and Gaia manager can see the game, but when i press X to launch, it goes back to the ps3 main menu.

any idea why?

Also the ps3 cant read any discs due to a faulty drive.

Two reasons:

1) After you select launch from the backup manager, you will return to the xmb. You then goto the folder called /app_home/PS3_GAME/ It will change to a disc of teh game you selected from the BM. Then click X to play.
2) Game requires a disc, any disc as long its a ps3 game, to load.

cheers pal, the problem is currently my ps3 cant read discs due to a faulty drive.

Is there anyway to get around the problem? I have done some research and it seems that Hermes v4b can solve the problem.

I have downloaded it but have no idea on how to use or install it?

Buy a replacement drive. But remember to attach the PCB board from old one to new one.
