What clients are you using to transfer your game files from your ps3 to PC? I am currently using filezilla which is pretty good and I get a average max speed of 8.6MB/s through a wired connection with an fairly old linksys router. What client are you guys using and what speeds are you getting? Also don't be afraid to share what kind of router you have and what connection type your using.(wireless or wired)

Filezilla, wired, average 15MB/s. Last time I checked, 10GB took me around 10-15 mins to completely transfer over (maybe shorter).

Thats almost double mines. I see they have a new ps3 FTP server out now and they say its a lot faster and more stable then first FTP server, its called blackb0x?s FTP server. I'm going to give that a try along with flashxp client and I will also try winscp.

Nice. I think you meant FlashFXP. Well it's not free unless you find a cracked version of it. Anyway, I tested BlackBox and it was terrible. Dropped my average transfer rate to 5MB/s. Switched back to PS3 FTP server and it brought my transfer speed back to 15MB/s. Perhaps someone might have better luck with BlackBox's FTP server.

Correction, 10G GB = 3-5 mins to transfer @15MB/s (I actually timed it this time).

There is now a newer version of BlackBox FTP...works great with Filezilla; speeds seemed limited more by the speed of the PS3 hard drive than by anything else.

Instead of using filezilla ect..... you could do it the easy way..... open internet explorer, type ftp:xxx.xxx.x.x (x = your ps3 ip address) press enter, when the page loads click page (top right)then open ftp site in windows explorer.

Then you can just drag and drop and right click to rename...ect. :-)

I actually did think about doing it that way but never gave it a try because I thought the speed would be slow. I think I will have to give it a try.

I was getting almost 40MBPS with a gigabit switch, an intel hardware NIC, and filezilla...but I kept getting damaged files. Now I am using SmartFTP with a 100mbps router...getting about 10MBPS, but perfect transfers, and it lets me see remote directory size. I'll have to try it with the gigabit switch; it seems that was not causing the problems since filezilla had the same issues with the router.

I seem to be having failed transfers using filezilla and wireless. Are there any settings I need to do? I can connect and look around in the ps3 hdd, but It wont copy, just fails. Any Ideas.

It is probably just filezilla...I was getting errors even running at 100mbps through wired.

Your right, tried flashfxp and started getting somewhere. Im just going to have to try a wired connection though. I let it run for about 45min for a 5gig file and it was still going. I aborted, it seemed to work, but it did throw up two errors through the whole process. Im assuming it will not work if errors show. I will try a wire and see if my luck is better, Ive got nowhere so far.

Thanks for the suggestion, im further than I was.

I betting it is, ps3 has always been slow on wireless with my experience. Did you get any errors with that transfer? Anyway, ill try wired once i get my hands on one long enough.

Wired really does help; just look at the internals related to WiFi and you might get an idea why. Gigabit also helps...you won't hit full speed of a fast hard drive, but large file transfer speeds are about twice as fast. (even faster with filezilla...but all the files end up corrupt).
