If I backup my PS3, and then restore from the backup to another PS3, would I be able to transfer save games and such back and forth? I have 2 PS3's at firmware 3.41. I want to jailbreak one of them, but would like to be able to transfer save games between them. Is that possible?
Im asking the same question, I'd like to have one with 3.41 & JB and keep the other updated to play online. I was wondering if I can keep the acheavements in similar manner as i do wiht my Xbox 360.
You can transfer your saved games, but they will be under the same user name. But I dont think all saved games can be copied. Installed game data is definitely not transferred so you have to reinstall all the games.
As for achievements I think you;ll get the ones that were last synced with the server, though not sure.

Yeah, I was thinking that both PS3's would be under the same username. So if my old PS3 has my original profile, then the backup PS3 would have the same profile name.
Forgetting about the jailbreak, what if I just wanted to have 2 identical systems? I was thinking of using the PS3 system backup utility to backup my original PS3 to an external fat32 HDD. Then plug that HDD into the new PS3 and use the restore utility to transfer all of my data, sort of cloning my original PS3. If I go online with the original PS3 and synch trophies and such, and then at a later date, go online with the new PS3 and synch, will the new PS3 get all of the trophy updates that were synched with the original?
If this could be done, it would be something useful for jailbroken PS3's if cfw is ever relessed.
