I'm planning on buying a new ps3 slim 250gb and was hoping to be able to mod it with my droid eris. I'm not sure exactly how and was wondering if there are any video tutorials that could help. i know the firmware needs to be at 3.41 and was wondering if a new ps3s come with that firmware? Also, i have noticed there are a lot torrents for ps3 games now and was wondering if you can burn ps3 games or transfer them to hard drive from torrent downloads after the ps3 has been modded?
well, first off, regarding firmware, most ps3's that are in a store already, will not have been reflashed to 3.42, so you should be fine. regarding torrents, (this info is only if you own a legal copy of the game already, and simply want to try and play around with torrents) they may work, they may not. depending on the age of the torrent. ones placed online before the hack was figured out (typically anything older then a month) will not work @ all. they were copied with an encypted .bin file. the newer files typically can be used, but each game comes with different compatability, some only work on an internal drive, some only on an external drive, etc. regarding your droid as the mod tool, have you read the tut's on xda developers? i would go there and do a search for psfreedom droid eris.
