I have had my 360 for 2 years now, I live in China so they already come premodded before you buy it. Ive never had any problems with any games i downloaded except for the odd out of region game. My question is why does it play every game when my friends who bought the same consoles here in China needed to patch it to wave5 and eventually higher for other games, I know my console is below wave5 as its at least 2 years old, but it just plays anything i throw at it. Hey im not complaining im just curious as to this?

Because you probably have a Benq drive in your unit and the firmware on those drives reads anything you throw at it. Your friends likely have Liteon, Toshiba etc..

huh? Every drive plays all games if the right firmware is on it. No drive needs patching if your firmware is up to date.

He said he hasnt updated his firmware for 2 years. I too have a Benq box that plays all waves and is still on ix 1.5 (from over 2 years ago)

He probably has a an unstealth version. Hitachis with 1.5.1 for example play all waves and it hasn't been updated since 1812
