dvd key questions?

I have an xbox that currently when it tries to play a game it boots then the screen flickers then it goes to a white xbox 360 screen with the logo. i have been told that this is from the dvd drive having the wrong key. so my question is if i get the dvd key from doing the jtag could i flash the dvd key into the dvd drive and would it work?

im sure iv read that u can get the key by dumping the whole NAND from the jtag, which would mean you can flash the drive with the proper key from the motherboard so it matches?
