Hi

I recently made a compilation vcd using mpegs, avis, wmvs etc & used tmpgenc to convert them all to mpeg1 format.

Most of them have worked perfectly, but 2 of them are speeded up, so they sound like Pinky & Perky on Helium.

Is there any reason for this?

They play fine through Windows Media Player & I used Nero to burn them.

If there is any other info you need to help me sort this out, I can try to let you know! :)

Thanks in advance for any advice etc.

Ian

so your saying all the files played flawlessly with win media player?? if thats the case try burning the VCD at a lower burn speed, i burn all my discs at 4x speed so theres no chance of errors, if that doesnt work try a higher quality cdr brand.

Hi again ....

I did burn @ 4x .... using Philips CD-R80 disc. Should I try to burn even slower than that?

Could it have something to do with me making an NTSC VCD (most of the clips are NTSC - the only PAL one I put on the VCD worked fine even though I specified an NTSC VCD at the beginning of the burn)?

Thanks again for any advice etc.

4x speed is an ideal speed for burning vcd/svcd's you shouldnt have aany errors with that speed.

and i doubt it has to do with what system your VCD is even if its a multi systemed VCD, i have many NTSC vcds that play fine thru my PAL only tv, i even have discs which are multi systemed(pal&ntsc) and still i dont have any problems there.

im struggling for a solution here because you say that the files play fine thru mplayer. the only thing i can think of is that you play the VCD straight thru mplayer, if it plays fine then sorry to say it but you may be looking at a problem with your standalone dvd player.

hope this helps..cheerz

i don't know why, but the ideal burning speed for me is 16x. at 4x it will skip when playback on the dvd player.

Hi again .....

OK, I used a few cd-r's to test different ways of burning the VCD & the two tracks that messed about first time around seem to be ok if I make the VCD as a PAL version as opposed to the NTSC version I did originally. I've just got to go buy some more cd-r's to see if the other tracks play up on PAL mode!

Thanks for your advice!

I'm having very similar problems. I'm using Nero 5.5 with the SVCD, MPEG2 add on. I'm using the Windows Movie Maker Program to render a complation as a .wmv file then burning it into a SVCD. If I make the complation to file using the "Video for local playback 2.1bps NTSC" encoding then when I burn it to disk as a SVCD some of the pictures are faster than the music timeline. When I save the complation as a "Video for local playback 2.1bps" only, then burn the SVCD at 4X on a high quality disk. The video is perfect and the resolution seens much better. But the burn speed does make a difference too. Try burning a 4X with high quality disks also.

Hiya again ....

I seem (somehow) to have sorted it out.

All I did was tell Nero to make a PAL disc (as opposed to an NTSC disc), and when I got the "Do you want to re-encode it" message because of wrong bitrates or whatever, I just said "yes". Im sure some of you more experienced burners/encoders are holding your heads in your hands, but hey - It Worked! so now I'm haopy cos Ive got some really rare concert footage all for ME!! lol

Thanks for all your help too

Ian
