Hola
Have figured out how to get my Vista PC to boot with SATA and CK3 connected so was able to start JF and get on with the spoof from Hitachi 79 to Benq.

Have checked VIA Ports only under DVD Key 32 tab to enable PortIO usage but wasn?t sure about the status of PortIO. The tut says it should be disabled if using ?non VIA chipset?. I guess this means SATA without driver-can you confirm please.

Selected Mode B and went on to audio unlock but keep getting ?RAM Execute Command Failed?. Tried it a few times and checked all settings and connections. Have searched but can?t find anything relevant to my problem.

Can someone advise please?

Thanks

The 79 requires the 79 unlock audio CD. This is all discussed in the JF tut. You do NOT send the 79 to mode B since the audio unlock does this for you. The laser needs to be good or this will not work.

Hi Oh Great and enlightened one. Unlike you I can read and the tut for V79 explicitly says:

"One the drive enquires on IO Port CLICK SEND MODE B. The process then goes on to cover the audio CD unlock and it was at this stage that I got the RAM Execute Command Failed.

Maybe you should have said that, no need to be a jerk. And you don't send these into mode B. Skip that and try to dump it. If ram upload doesn't work, change to classic. So connect the drive, hit unlock and then dump. Been a while since I've done one.

I thought I did say that!! Also the spoofing process refers to reading the FW from the V79 but stopping short of actually writing the new FW to it. I assumed this meant don't dump it etc.

Sorry I hurt your feelings.

wow. No where was this mentioned either. What are you trying to spoof? Are you trying to spoof the the hitachi or you want the firmware off it to spoof to a new drive? You need the ORIG firmware to spoof.
