When I try and back up Harry Potter game (the new one, prisoner of something or other) I get a message saying a file name is too long. I have also tried to FTP the files from the D: drive on the xbox to my PC and then FTP them back to the xbox hard drive. This has installed the game and it seems to play ok but..... about 31 files wouldn't transfer. I assume this means about halfway through the game it will probably crash. I am now going to try writting the game to disk and see if I can back it up that way. Has anyone else had this problem??????

Right, I managed to copy Hary Potter onto a DVD-r and it seems to work fine. Bit worrying that there are now 3 new games, (that I know of) that won't transfer to the hard drive. Ninja Gaiden, James Bond and Harry Potter.

I dont really have any first hand expeience with ninja gaiden but I know 007 need a patched "default.xbe" so it would run from the hard drive. Anyway, the original question is """has anyone successfully downloaded Harry Potter P.O.A. from the original game disk to the hard drive""""" As I said before, all I get is filename too long error

Cheers

I think its because the actual game name is too long and you have to use a program to shorten it. Im not sure what the program is called but im sure someone will tell you.

-Xbox v1.0, X-ecuter2 lite, EVO-X DASHBOARD,
-PS2 V4(gap), PS2 V5, duo2
-BARTON 3200+, wInDoWs XP(sp2),
asus A7V600-X,120GB

I have successfully backed up these games to my hard drive using the newest dvd2xbox version 5.8. Also make sure you have your F drive enabled under settings-obviously, and enable acl processing. Another useful tool for backing up your games to your hard drive that has never failed me is a program called complex tools. I believe the latest version is 1.6. It can be found in the usual places.

When using dvd2xbox be sure to insert the DVD at the dashboard screen and then start up dvd2xbox eles you'll only get that 11meg thing. You only need to do this with original DVDs

skippins, what version of xbox are you using, and what dash are you using. As far as the ftp thing goes, just get the connection, select the dvd2xbox folder, delete the contents then, ftp the contents of the new version. I recommend flash fxp for your ftp client. Both complex tools and dvd2xbox automatically patch the xbe file.
